@bakagundum12 you probably picked it up in the west. a lot of the way it is done in shotokan has spread into the other ryu in the west. but in asia there is no jump. i am a shitoryu practitioner.
-
butokukan style i learned has a jump as well, every style is a little different, shito ryu, gojo ryu, isshin ryu they're all a little different
-
@theaateam1994 Yeah, I learned it with a jump too ;p
-
its better with jump and the way u land gives you or takes away points
-
im also from shito ryu karate but, the way i learned pinian godan is with jump. im thinking now is it your choice to jump or to just do kosa dachi?
-
@DemonofAvalon i see now lol.. and even the jumps are different, like in kyokushin we'd jump much further than in shotokan hehh
-
@MizSabine Each different style of karate do the kata a little differently. The heian version does, in fact, have a jump in it. :D
-
wow so i did shotokan and i learnt it different... and yeah there was a jump in it lol .. maybe the one i learnt was more 'stylized'
-
it's heian godan on shito ryu style not pinan, the pinan term is used on wado ryu

@shureikanshihan I'm really curious to see that hani goshi in action. I study ju jutsu and if I'm honest I'm pretty hard pressed to see anything resembling a hani goshi in there. There's no familiar leg bar for the spring hip and nothing that helps me imagine a hip throw kuzushi! I studied wado ryu too and know how hidden throws can often seem without the bunkai, but I really can't see this one!
wow, so much more different to the way that I learned pinan Godan, for a start the way I learned has a jump in it :L
