The Great George Best appears as guest on Parkinson discussing his decision to quit football. He does seem totally lost and disillusioned with the game he once dominated. He should have been looked out for and helped more around this troubled time. Regardless of quitting early, he is still one of the greatest players the world has ever seen. He will always be remembered as the great player he was.

What a life wasted !! Everything was given to him by luck and nature, except the capacity to moderate himself. The fashions and rebellion ideas of the time did not help at all. So, no management, an enviroment of going all the way as if there´s no tomorrow, a lot of quick money (which was a miserable wage for modern standards) and a nature leaned to satisfy the senses; A life wasted.

What unbelievable comments. George was and still is one of the greatest ever athletes and certainly soccer players. I wonder if any of the acidic-minded people who wrote the negative and clearly spurious comments in this log, have ever been under the pressure that George Best was?

George was a super human in times when “management” didn’t exist and was left to deal with his brilliance on his own. NONE of the people who have written bad words about George have ever even ‘tasted’ success.
