  • My god, my throat hurts just listening to this..

  • Egh. Even if I COULD understand all these music terms you're all using, I STILL think any pretentious musical arguing is pointless. Why can't we all just agree that EVERY gifted singer has something uniquely admirable about their voice? Anyway, I'm not a singer, so maybe that's why I'm not into the arguments I'm seeing here... It ALL sounds good to me. Hopefully, I'll be able to eventually train my voice but right now, I'm jealous of ANY talented vocalist, haha! (Especially MJK from Tool!)

  • @AlexNOSAM yeah I really dislike being a bass since I can almost not sing a long to ANY songs that I enjoy

  • I'm pretty sure I'm a Tenor and it's annoying because people always seem to critique high notes the most.

  • @brennanwalsh The ability to sing high or low notes is NOT always a good sign for placing voices accordingly...The vocal coach would be smart enough to find the natural placement before they are put in categories. The only 2 reasons for tension and strain is because of 2 possibilities...Improper vocal placement/technique or incorrect vocal category. If you were trained or inclined classically, you would be well aware of that. I seriously hope you realize that.

  • @brennanwalsh Normally, if there Bass-Baritones, they are told NOT to sing higher notes than F#4 or even G4 by vocal coaches. They would very likely squeeze, throat, strain and go off pitch simply because that is NOT where there NATURAL voice should be. Most Guys/Dudes/Men/Males that I know that sing are underneath that category and they don't bother going higher than that range...They just use a falsetto. I don't really know too many Tenors, lol.

  • @highnote32 there is a way for a bass to sing in the soprano range but your not gonna find the instruction from a classical teacher these are modern techniques.. do you really think every heavy metal singer from the 80's belting high Cs and Es 300 days a year were tenors? most of them did lose there voices but not from singing its because they started ading things like screaming and rasp to their voices which are very hard to do correctly

  • There are lots of men that wanna be Tenors!!!!!!

  • @brennanwalsh Also, when you get trained classically....That deals with your natural placement, meaning whatever is effortless, on pitch, resonant and powerful. You see, that would be the key. Bass-Baritones would go off pitch and and sound stressed and unnatural if they attempt the Tenor range and it would be better off in a falsetto. A vocal teacher I have had in high school and she even did vocal assessments with me told me this.

  • @brennanwalsh No, I'm not a Tenor. What I'm saying there is nothing Tenor about me. You obviously didn't understand what I was saying. I'm not trying to place my voice towards Tenor considering I cannot do it. Also, my voice is too high for Tenor anyway says the vocal coaches I worked with and people I sing in a choir....They all tell me I'm Countertenor. Basses would NOT wanna do that because they will very likely strain. How old are you anyway?

  • @AlexNOSAM there is no limit to how high you can sing if want to learn to sing soprano notes full voice it is possible. Classical and Opera are old genres of music.. There are modern techniques that can help you expand you range way beyond what you think possible. Check out vocal coaches Jamie Vendera, and Thomas Apell

  • @highnote32 Im not trying to belittle your teachers methods but expanding your range to high soprano notes and beyond in full voice is a modern rock tecnique and would need to be tought by a rock teacher ( Jamie vendera, Brett Manning, THomas Appell) Lol it just makes me sad when people complain about there voice types when with practice you can go way beyond the generally accepted limits
