One and a half years after this interview Senna rang Stewart to apologise , admitted he had lied and that he DID intentionally smash in to Prost on that first corner in Suzuka.
Jackie had every right to ask the question that no other journo would ask at that time for fear that Senna would not speak with them ever again. He told Stewart just that after this interview. Senna is my favorite driver ever but the question was a valid one and Jackie had every right to ask it .

It's weird how Senna, whose native language was Portugese, was more articulate and had a greater command of the English language than some British sportsmen. That tit David Beckham makes me cringe everytime he opens his mouth.

"If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver." Great quote and very true. R.I.P.

Isn't it funny? When senna intentionally crashes into his teammate and he is a hero and "doing what he was born to do" yet when schumacher does it then he is a cheating bastard. lol Now i know why people compare hamilton with him. The only problem is that your not fooling anybody except yourselves because we all know what happened that day.

You can't argue with either of these guys. Neither are right or wrong, Stewart and Senna are legends in their own right, and have got to that status via two different approaches, but that does not make one's achievement greater or lesser than the other.

@rananim3 He was reckless and ruthless. Like most racing drivers in that era, they only wanted to win. Schumi was the same, Prost. The list can go on and on. He wanted to win, which is why he took out Prost, and also the reason why Prost took out Senna. They both wanted to win and to guarentee the win, take out your main contender so that mathematically he won't have a chance of winning the championship. I'd do the same, and if the rules were the same now as back then, so would everyone else.
Silly question in my view..Senna was born to race.He had one speed..fast.His clashes with Prost were racing incidents, nothing more.He was never reckless as Stewart seems to imply. He was the greatest racing driver of all time.Stewart was good but not good enough to chastise Senna for doing what he was born to do.
