When the Soviet Union fell in 1991, Russians gained unprecedented access to the KGB archives. This documentary series, produced in 1992 by Russian filmmakers, contained film and photos that had never been seen by the public before.

  • Soviet union fell in 1989 i tought? not 1991

  • At the very end of "The Second Russian Revolution: Coup" (part VII), the dates given for the period of the Soviet Union are November 7, 1917 - December 25, 1991. But certainly by 1989 it was already beginning to wind down.

  • This all used to be very nice, except now, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SOUND?

  • @upsilon054, right now, I'm able to hear the soundtrack. Perhaps there might have been a temporary problem with YouTube's transmission. Check again and let me know, and if necessary, I'll do a second upload of the video clip.

  • Good video! Thank you very much.

"Stalin was as ruthless as Hitler". He was a paranoiac megalomaniac as described by the neuro-scientists. I have 5 videos in my profile which depicts Stalin's ruthless traits! He was a mad dog the world has ever seen. Communists should be abolished from world.

    Welcome "HUMANITY", die "communism"!!!

  • I agree with you, bongarijit, though we must be careful not to blame all communists for these crimes. Solzhenitsyn, Sakharov and Lech Walesa were communists at one time, and did much to oppose the cruelties of the system.

Decent people sometimes subscribe to bad ideology, when they don't know its full history.

  • To blame ideology is futile; we must blame ourselves.

  • American propaganda

  • lol he sent Beria the psychopathic rapist to represent him at his mother's funeral--Stalin was cold

  • what a monster.

  • a charming man. not.

  • No sound!!!

  • why weren't communist tried for war crimes after 1990? you know why?because western politicians were scared that documents that showed them as the traitors they were would be revealed, european politicians(top EU and many american politicians) were all commited to soviet union, also, they were afraid their socialism would collapse as well,anti-"racist" internationalist socialism, this socialism is destroying europe today, communists have to be tried and their documents showed up!

  • Putin's role model.... poor Russia!

  • Learning about Stalin makes one wonder if the other allies in WW II might have handled things better. Hitler and Stalin were both unthinkably evil. The allies snuffed out one while securing half of Eurasia for the other.

The other allies knew. Search for "World War II Behind Closed Doors."

  • @bongarijit

Described by ethnic Russian spies and their proxies, not unlike US ambassador Cohen.
