@divisioneight In total agreement with you there on the gas version of the Smart that is now sold in Canada (diesels did exist here) and USA. I have one of the earlier CDI's - 2006 - and unfortunately diesel engine acted up a week ago - and has been in shop since. Warranty had expired back in Oct 2010 - and we're being told that worst case scenario - replacement engine at $8K plus taxes maybe what we are facing. Sadly, we will have to walk away if this is the case.

It looks cool with the simple steel rims - the simpler, the better!
That diesel would kill in the US if only they'd get the balls to get it over here as the ultimate commuter. The US gas version isn't really that good on fuel mileage versus a larger hybrid. The diesel would beat out any hybrid here.
