@ShutupAndRun21 Pete is Johnny's father. If you listen closely when Sam reads the paper at her grandma;s house, she says that Johnny and his mother's body were discovered by Pete Simms--his father. Crazy Pete found his son and wife murdered.

Pete in this part of the movie just really goes to show you that you never know why people are the way they are and what they've been through. He was portrayed so differently when really he wasn't the crazy one, just misunderstood.

What a wonderful cast for the 70s scenes. The adult cast could of been better. Brooke Shields and Gaby both had hairy eye brows and similar facial features. Anyone that thinks Cristina Ricci would grow up to look like Rosie O'donald must be drunk.
