This is an introduction to differential equations. It provides definitions for; differential equation, Ordinary differential equation, partial differential equation, order of a differential equation and linear differential equations. This short flick also gives examples of these definitions. In addition to all that the video talks about Leibniz and prime notation and differential form. All that being said the video moves quick and remember that you can pause it. There is a mistake @5:05 in my notation should read (d^3y)/(dx^3). For more math shorts go to www.MathByFives.com

  • Good stuff. Not sure why people complain about instructors trying to make this fun & easy to understand. Upper math is hard enough explaining from the top down as all university profs seem to do. Why not teach it from the bottom up so you don't turn off 98% of the population to the wonders of math? I wish my prof taught like this 20 yrs ago.

I showed this and other videos to my daughter who is struggling with ODE class, and she said this was in the top 5 for introductions to the subject.

  • Im not sure if you other videos are like this but the constant shifting of letters/blurring effects are making it hard to focus on the material. Thank you for taking the time to put these videos up!

  • @MelTurpin im in his class and have add. it really helps me stay up and stay alert , lol

  • OOOKAAAYYYYY.. !

  • @dson144 I agree fully. I find it quite sad that a teacher feels he has to resort to these kiddy clown mannerisms to keep the attention of older teens, young 20-somethings that we are trying to help become and act like adults.
