  • nice setup you have for them... i recently just got two terrapin's from a friends how was unable to keep them... they are both in seperate tanks due to the male having a bit of a bully complex, hoping to get a bigger tank soon so i can put them in together but not sure if that will be possible due to the males temperament

anyways nice set-up and was an awsome idea with the slate for the basking area :)

  • @RavensRevolt Thanks very much, yeah get a bigger tank and try them! let me know how it goes ;-)

  • Nice set up you have there. Do the turtles not go after the fish you got in there? Whats the best fishes you recon to put with terrapins which wont get eaten. I tried some neons with mine and they didnt last a day : (

  • @GA16PoWeRedK11 I'm very lucky my turtles dont seem to go after the fish, I have 3 x angel fish of good size and due to thier aggresive nature they go after the same food so the turtles seem to leave them. I have 3 upside down plecos that are out of sight and one huge pleco which seems to clean the turts shells! My neons didnt survive nor my clown loach but its more down to the enviornment, the tank gets messy and stagnate so you need strong fish, and to keep the turtles away i'd get larger...

  • @GA16PoWeRedK11 fish, the turts may nip but the wont confuse for food, like live prawns. So angel fish, large bottom feeders, anything that hides. It all depends on how much of a git your turtle is!

  • quality tank mate !! where did you get your turtles from ??. im thinking about setting one up ..

  • @jayjayokockha I bought my turtles from a local pet store called tranquilities in chadwell heath, its worth setting one up, but if i could do it again I would have less turtles, they look all cute in the pet shop but they grow so fast! Id probably stick to the smaller musk turtles too, they are exciting to watch, dont require as much water, not do they need a basking area, so their a good starter!

  • the bottom feeder isnt a pleco its an upside down catfish

  • Slate is a pretty cool looking substrate. I personally prefer the look of sand though. Also be careful with the floating log. Larger turtles have been known for getting stuck and drowning in them.

    too be honest ,

the sex of the turtles doesnt mean anything ..

they arent "practicing the mating rituals" , they are just playing

they wont become sexual mature for many years and wont display sexual behaviour for years .. its just play ..trust me , your maps a female

  • @BIGGESTxxEMINEMxxFAN Nah im defo right on the sexes! little buggers are already practicing the mating rituals! I find it easier to call them upside down fish lol cos the real names are usually illude me!

The slate is nice but it gets very clogged up with dirt, had a serious clean over the weekend! I need a replacement part for a fluval 305 so I'll have two filters, the dam things poo so much!
