Warning about ZYPREXA (olanzapine) (May 2004)

Now a warning about the drug ZYPREXA (olanzapine), made by Eli Lilly and company. ZYPREXA is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The WARNINGS section of the drug's label now describes cerebrovascular adverse events. These have occurred in elderly patients being treated for dementia-related psychosis in clinical trials. These events, some of them fatal, have included stroke and TIAs. The labeling reminds practitioners that ZYPREXA has not been approved for the treatment of patients with dementia-related psychosis.

ABILIFY WARNING: Some side effects include uncontrollable twitching or jerking movements, tremors, seizure, and weight gain. Some people also feel dizzy, especially when getting up from a lying or sitting position, or may experience a fast heart rate. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (combination of fever, muscle stiffness, faster breathing, sweating, reduced consciousness, and sudden change in blood pressure and heart rate) is another side effect as is suicidal thinking and suicide attempts

This drug works but make me extremely sleepy, now I take abilify, gives me energy and makes me feel better!
