Saturday Main Event was the shit back then.... couldn't wait tile Saturday came to see this, it was like Boxing's main even where the world stops to watch it! Incredible matches... as if it was ppv but free baby! I remember a match where 2 black midgets beat the crap out of Andre the Giant! it was "Ass Kickin' Action"!!!!

I agree. But Poffo was the Genius for much longer than a year. The gimmick started in 1989 (or maybe even 1988; I remember he was at the coronation of his brother when he became the Macho King) and lasted through 1992 or 1993 when he was with the Beverly Brothers.
And asshole is one title Vince has never relinquished. He is as much of one today as he was back then. Especially with wrestlers whose gimmicks he didn't create. The guy's been drowning in his own ego.

I'm old enough and lucky enough to have seen this live. Saturday Night's Main Event happened only once a month and it was free! Usually on NBC and they would cut Saturday Night Live off to show the WWF. It was the most exiting thing ever!
