...for all those who don't know: the gig was brilliant but this is just the shitty overdubbed version from Dave Goodman: guitar/drums have been overdubbed by him. Listen to the start of NO LIP, you can easily spot Glens original bass start as it has not been overdubbed... this is as low as the original recording would sound without the silly overdubs. There also exsist another Goodman issue of this gig this also the "in between talking" of Johnny being overdubbed! - as useless as this one!

Yea. It's been reisued about 10 times in the last 20 years. Each time with a diffrent cover.

i have the original on record and 2 versions on cd with the yellow cover and the one with green and orange..all those are the original where you can barely hear glen at all..i have listend to goodmans and hes wrecked it and he even adds a riot in the backround from a movie

...also the Oct 20, 1976 - Birmingham, Bogarts-gig is very good, but this one is a real audience recording and it's a pity that the vocals of Johhny a very low. But this is quite at that time when the Pistols had recorded ANARCHY IN THE U.K. finally for EMI and you could hear that this one is very good on that performance!! This is the gig which is opened by "You've heared about them on the newspapers - you've heared about them on television.. Here they are like tonight - the Sex Pistols!"

You could also spot the Sept 24, 1976 - 76 Club, Burton on Trent-gig, there you could hear how a soundboard recording of the Pistols of '76 sounded - and this was also a gig where Dave Goodman was the soundman. Also the one on August 29, 1976 - Screen on the Green, Islington is a pure Sex Pistols recording of that period. This is my favourite! And you could easily get it on the SEXBOX 3 cd set with hardcover package & a wonderful booklet! Try that one and you will be surprised!

You meen you have a real boot tape of the gig? I am searching for that one. The best thing you could get on a semi-official release is the DOJO CD/LP (as this one mentioned here), but on this version there is DEFINETLY the guitar/drum overdubbed by Dave Goodman, the ealy soundman & demo producer of the Sex Pistols. On the Restless Records release there has also been Johnnys voice IN BETWEEN SONGS overdubbed, not on the songs. This is the poorest version of all! This here is NOT the original!

I have a version of this gig which I am almost sure there has been no overdubs. Its definitely Rotten singing, definitely Jones' guitar and Cooks drumming. The only thing is the bass is so low you can barely hear it...

Is there a recording where the bass is at a decent level?

Sure its not, cause the bassline has not been overdubbed in any of the Goodman re-recordings of this gig. Listen to the start of No Lip an you will here the bassline (and recording) as it has been in its original form. Haven't you wondered so far that the in-between-banter of Johnny is that low and in most songs of the remix the drums/guitar is louder than Johnnys voice?

Even this is the better one of the Goodman overdubs as there is also the one with overdubbed crowd noise and Johnnys voice.
