well, meerkat claws aren't very sharp actually. With all the digging any sharpness would go blunt very quickly anyway ;)

We've even had the meerkats crawl over most of the camera and change some of the settings, for instance in the Hannover zoo video (the first one in the responses panel :)

There are Meerkats in Germany?

Well of course there aren´t any free-living meerkats in Germany. But zoos, animal parks etc have them. Sweden and Scotland have them as well :) All you have to do is take care that they are shelterd from rain, and can warm up somewhere when it´s too cold and windy. Dry winter cold doesn´t bother them as it also gets quite cold in the Kalahari.
