Lament of Innocence (with Leon Belmont) is the first encounter with Dracula. That kid can't be Leon since Leon is his ancestor.

Exactly; Igarashi made that game, so he had to cut this one out of canon because THIS is the first encounter with Dracula. So he did a snip-and-switch.

I'm pretty sure in Lament of Innocence you fight Walter(a vampire) who is not technically Dracula. Then *spoilers* you learn that your friend Mathias used you to kill Walter to gain eternal life, and become Dracula. He runs away though so you don't ever fight him in that game I don't think. Anywho thats what I gathered from reading about the Castlevania timeline, so I don't really know if this is true or not.
