My version of the Bob Essex MIDster Punch. I made a motor driven punch head instead of a solenoid. A scrap removal system pulls the "confetti" through the lower punch arm with a small muffin fan and deposits it into a plastic box. It is mostly made from salvaged parts of photocopiers, printers, and typewriters. The linear bearings are ball bearing drawer slides.

  • what kind of needle did you use?

  • @anglerfly It is a punch and die that I made on the metal turning lathe from tool steel.

  • @jfbflash from what tool?

  • @anglerfly Tool Steel is the type of steel. It is very hard and durable and holds an edge well. It works just like a hand held paper punch.

  • where's the monkey?

  • WOW!!! I love your punch. I have been cutting my music with an exacto knife. Very well done. I want to make one soooo bad. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Awesome machine :)

  • IS there a piano to play and then it hooks up?

  • They are stock ball bearing drawer slides, mounted sideways. I purchased them at a Home Improvement store.
