On Tuesday, November 1, anti-death penalty activist and best-selling author Sister Helen Prejean spoke at Stuart as part of our Women in Leadership program. Dead Man Walking is an account of her experience counseling death row inmate, Patrick Sonnier.
Sister Prejean has been instrumental in sparking national dialogue on the death penalty and helping to shape the Catholic Church's newly vigorous opposition to state executions. She considers herself a southern storyteller and she travels around the world giving talks about her ministry.
Sister Helen is a great story teller. How does this school keep getting people like her and Jhumpa Lahiri to come and talk to them?
