Hi Rock Fans!



Alter Bridge has been hard at work promoting their new record, ABIII.

Their latest single, 'Words Darker Than Their Wings' was a free download
from Roadrunner Records in the UK last Friday and Saturday, and what an incredible and inspiring song it is!

I love how the lyrics seem to be a conversation between two friends discussing their differences in beliefs. Great stuff.



Here's my version of this fantastic song, and I really, really hope I do it justice,
because I have a lot of respect for these guys as songwriters, musicians, and performers.

I used this song to learn the value of alternate tunings, beyond just the standard 'Drop' tuning stuff lots of bands play these days, and I'm excited to say that I really love what I learned. There are a ton of chordal possibilities, and the open strings really accent each chord nicely. The tuning is very close to C# Standard, the only difference being the 3rd string is an F# instead of an E.



Alter Bridge is an amazing band that deserves much respect and I hope many new fans learn to appreciate their music as well as the ideas, they express through it when this new record gets released.



This song goes out to all the guys in Alter Bridge for setting the standard for what a rock band should be.

@deathdefyingleap I love it. It's definitely my favorite amp in the rig. I'll sometimes blend it with a Mesa to add a different attitude to my sound, but the Herbert by itself is probably the best amp I've played through.
