What happens when a world-renowned scientist, crushed by the loss of his eldest daughter, formulates a theory in conflict with religious dogma? This is the story of Charles Darwin and his master-work "The Origin of Species". It tells of a global revolution played out the confines of a small English village; a passionate marriage torn apart by the most dangerous idea in history; and a theory saved from extinction by the logic of a child.

Released on 2009
Directed by: Jon Amiel

um...sorry to break this to you...not every single person believes in the "bible". Another fact is that the bible was written by man and man isn't perfect as it says in the bible so for me to believe every word written in that book is about as foolish as me saying harry potter is the new messiah. Oh and im sure he (read)* the bible.

  • @LEEXOR123 Look up "Origin of Species in 4 words in 4 min, I promise you it is level and fair, From a Catholic and Anthropology Student both ideas can coexist

  • @LEEXOR123 Maybe, but certainly not about biology.

  • @tueresanto777 Or perhaps that people who believe blindly should open thier eyes and see the trail of evidence leading away from the tales of bronze age goat herders? That perhaps if there is indeed a God, the one of the bible is merely a myth?

For the record, Darwin was only seeking to answer riddles without defaulting to 'God Did It' since that is irrelevent to WHAT happened. Darwin was Christian, before and after his theory... that never changed.

  • Darwin's Dangerous Idea (the first two hours of the PBS series: Evolution), and Darwin's Darkest Hour (a PBS/NOVA film) tell the same story and are far superior to this film.

  • it sound interesting but when it make statement or try to say that GOD does not exist i have a problem with that because they are referring to the creation and clearly state in the book of Genesis GOD created everything we know and not know yet... is theory like this that could confuse weak mines and question God, instead of give thanks to are God we are still alive & safe...

  • @liakatelyn to be fair I have not read the whole bible only parts of it back it catholic school, and I have not finished reading the origin of species, but I still believe in faith and god, and believe in evolution, I am a Catholic as well as an Anthropologist/Translator/Forensic Scientist/Pre-Med student Jr. I have so much to learn and can hardly argue with solid ground, but I know we need to respect more people and theories, for anyone look up "origin of species in 4 words and 4 min"

  • @liakatelyn Until you read the Whole Bible and the Origin of Species, I would not argue much, even Charles Darwin struggled with this, and if you look at evolution theory, something began, Belief in God starting Life and evolution changing life, can coexist, Evolution states life is always evolving, but struggles to say how life began

  • this seems like an interesting movie
