Ehh, no, he doesn't use fake material you ninny. His whole point WAS that he knew she was a poe and not genuine. His point was that there ARE religious people who would say things as appalling as this, such as (to name a few): Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, etc.

Because he was trying to show someone who WAS a poe, and WAS doing a SATIRE of it. His ENTIRE POINT point was that some of these people believe things that are SO wild that a satire of it seems like a genuine opinion.

Satire is typically pointedly obvious to the audience, i.e Stephen Colbert. When the person has so "fooled" near everyone into believing they really are a religious zealot then it's no longer funny and just plain reprehensible.
