Having played to backing tracks for years I can relate to what Ronnie is saying. Most sound guys are really hammered by showtime and cannot find the restroom much less the fader
It's all to do with how well the system is tuned. Ronnie and Jason have very quiet vocals which can be a nightmare for some sound guys. If the system wasn't properly tuned at install, it will feedback before enough gain is achieved to hear their vocals. Contrastingly, you can turn the music up all day without this problem. Sounds like they need their own sound op on the road.
When I played in a band we only had maybe one or two bad sound guy's, but my old church and current church's sound guy's are horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's kind of hard to get into the worship when the sound is on grandma low!!!!!
Hey i completly releate with Ronnie, Paradoxx did a set with a Goth band and another head lining industrial band , our sound was bad and the goth band suffered too , the engineer who resembled Ronnies discription of the metal mixer said he was told the sound check of the headlining band had to be preserved till they started, so us two baby bands sounded rank, if i had my chance again i would bring the flat beer carton cut out of our mix settings,
Sounds like just some bad luck to me. One of my former Nashville roommates was a great sound guy for just about any style. But I'm sure he'd be right there with Ronnie on the pervasive mediocrity of CCM culture from top to bottom.
Mad at the World and Painted Orange were doing Norman OK c1990, but apparently didn’t like each other. A nasty dispute broke out and they started an hour late; thereafter they proceeded to sabotage each others' sound. So I guess it could always be worse.

This is hilarious! Why DO sound guys always seem to have worked for Night Ranger?

You must come play at Hooligans in Jacksonville, NC. Rob Pars is the best sound guy on the planet!
