Dedicated to lost2fairyfate. Old-fashioned donuts the way our grandmothers made them. Yeast-free. Music: Django Reinhardt's "I Got Rhythm," which he recorded five times between 1935 and 1949, "Deccaphonie," 1953 and "I Love You," 1947.

  • About how many does this recipe make? I can't wait to try them. Darlene

  • @DownHomeCooking it varies slightly, but approximately a dozen and a half. :) :)

  • They look great.

  • @DownHomeCooking thanks! it's flattering seeing you here...i enjoy your channel very much. these donuts are...honestly to die for. simple is best, this is one of those recipes that truly honours that...i am sure you will love them as much as i do if you try them. :) i'd love to see you feature them in a video one day. :)

  • These look to die for, Jen! I'm sure they are much better than Horton's! I can see it now. A big neon sign that says "Jenzeppelin's Donuts"!

  • @727JeffN One of the little girls in the neighbourhood had one and said, "They're better than Tim Hortons!" Needless to say, I was flattered to blushing! But we have our great-grandmothers to thank for preserving these old recipes. Like everything else, things were of better quality in the olden days, right down to fried dough. :) Donut chains don't last here, they all fold to the mighty Hortons. I miss Robin's Donuts and Country Style Donuts. They had better old-school donuts.

  • I'll have one milk choc and one vanilla sugar ...and Orange, I never see orange, sounds good. Love a good orange cake. Very nice video. Greetings from NJ, USA!

  • Fantastic!

  • I was just looking at doing a recipe called buttons and bows. You fry up the doughnut holes and give the rings a twist to make the bow. It uses a yeast dough, but I think I like this one better. OOOOOhh look at them all decorated! I know where you bought the sprinkles ;)

I was just wondering how to fill them with jelly and there you are!

I was raised on Map-O-Spread, good stuff.

    Timmy's rules.

  • We will have to try these! My hubbie keeps talking of making donuts. It's one of his happiest childhood memories making donuts with his family. =) This looks like a great one to try!

  • @ClassicRocknRolla3 Yup, lol! PDex rules! I love it, lol.
