as promised, here is the elevator you have been waiting for. A beautiful elevator. basically what happened after the camera stopped I said "we were just admiring this beautiful antique otis elevator" at that point the gentlemans tone of voice changed drastically and then he said "1949 to be exact" after that he asked how we got into the elevator and told us it was restricted. I explained to him what we were doing "elevator photography" and he then said "you didn't take any pictures on the 2nd floor did you" I reassured him that all I was interested in was the elevator. We exchanged a little more small talk and then in the end asked me to slam the door and then try to open it. It caught on the magnet and wouldn't open and I told him it was shut, he told us to have a nice day and that is pertty much it.

  • Too bad you never saw the manually operated one in the People's Building at 18 Broad Street. Had a huge, brass controller that the operator had to use.
