Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor (SMSS) Wind Orchestra ensemble aka The Renaissance performing their song entitled Ireland: Of Legend and Lore during the Preliminary Rounds of the Malaysian SBP Festival Wind Orchestra 2009. A highly inspiring and mystical piece, this fine performance earned them the Gold Medal and a promotion to Division One in 2010. Kudos to them. Way to go!! • its just they feel the music

thats why they dancing on the chair

    but its okay then

this school is new in this prestige competition

    so they needs more practice

    my suggestion

    stop dancing

    because its irritating

think what happen when the judges feel irritate too

  • I think it's not out of place. It's a highly inspirational piece to me. Plus, it's a competition; not as if they were playing at some funeral. And judging by the result, the judges didn't get irritated...

  • To see them perform informally, watch their rehearsal by searching this tag: SMSS Wind Orchestra practising Ireland: Of Legend and Lore.

  • The Finale Festival Wind Orchestra 2009 will be held tomorrow, Saturday, 20/06/2009 at Plenary Hall, Putrajaya International Convention Centre. Some of SMSS Wind Orchestra members will be performing with other SBP band members. See you there!!

  • Gold Medal? Not bad for a malaysian band though ^^

  • Salam All;

Pak cik ni dulu sekolah kat SMSS....cuba dengar version yang di mainkan oleh Hong Kong Philharmonics.... jauh beza nye...anyway adik adik semua.....keep on practising

  • yo nazirZ, jgn lah emotional sgt. aikol10 was just giving suggestions on how to improve based on his observations fr other bands.

while non-rigid style is accepted in usa where they play series of short repetitive notes, rigid / regimented or no movement is still the norm in malaysian schools.

    anyway, syabas to smss!!

  • great job. but a lot to be improvise into better music lol...

adik2, phrasing kene jage...huhu, nafas pendek, not enough stamina eh? so, jangan lupe lari anak2 dkt padang rugby smss every weekend n sit up at least 10 per day...blowers esp!!

    hoo~~~

  • they're getting better n better...

  • if u r that great, than why dont you become the best musician in the world?

it's a learning process n each band has their own style depends on how their coach teaches them.....

  • No,actually by moving to much on the chair does affect the quality of the music

Tone and all especially for flutes

Not only it looks funny and irrating but the quality of the music is affected

Observe how other professional orchestra plays and compare it to this orch

This orchestra can go far but would need to listen on other people's point of view especially on the music side of it.

As far as musicality is concerned, there are a lot of things that needs to be improved.

    Good luck!!

  • Totally agree with that
