What a shit review of The Hobbit. Not enough whimsy or light-heartedness? Did you miss the entire fucking opening party with the Dwarves, the encounter with the trolls, the Dwarves general antics, Radaghast (a bit too much whimsy, but he doesn't overstay his welcome) and Gandalf up to his magic tricks? Oh, and the length. These are long movies. Haven't you cinema snobs figured that out a decade ago? Oh wait, too busy making "gasp! oscar-winning director not as good!" revies to sell papers?

when Gandalf mentions the grey mountains on the skirts of Mirkwood, he does mention goblins hob-goblins (smaller creatures) and orcs "of the worst description".

they are except with location orcs/goblins mountains; goblins mountains and woods. orcs are larger and more keen. there are several races of Hobbit and Dwarf Elf and Man also according to Professor Tolkien author of these books.

with all the dialogue scenes story depth and songs in the books cut out and/or raced thru, it could probably have been that long.

plus, it is 3 movies not one...be patient and give this trilogy chance. and, it is not the LOR it is the prelude to the other story. LOR was historical and factual for honor; this is remembrance and exaggeration, for fun and reminiscing: a difference. I prefer the Books to the movies of LOR, but I actually prefer the Movies to the book the Hobbit: because of story and depth; warmth and drama; intensity, yet can poke fun and be light hearted (note the lack of trauma here?).. so there is my view.

what is this also, 2012 end of the world crap have to ruin everything, (esp the conspiracy theorists)? what is wrong with having a light touch for a change instead of the "heart and gore with intensity", this reality slash darkness, that everyones nuts about? this is a passing culture craze, it will end in 20 years. I like this stuff too, and also love the Book. I analyzed this movie from a literary, accuracy point of view, &it passed and blew me away with Jackson's skill with art/w imagination.

they want mutilated "entertainment" thats raced, cut up, mixed, which confuses and ruins the whole adaptation and enjoyment of the film; my opinion: LOR. they want a quick junkie rush, like ravishing a whore with no attachments: a wham bam thank you madam. a one night stand, instead of art! (Humph! or a snort more or less like that.)
