Previous posters don't seem to realize that discussing a social group is always about generalization, not specifics. Pratney is analyzing reasons for the increased interest in things like Wicca and other magiks, vampirism, etc. as well as a willingness to take any kind of drug (thing "pharm" parties) to get an altered mental state. He's not saying every Gen X-er does this.
