This is a 2-part video of my trip to Grantham where I spent the day filming trains there on the station. This part of the video starts off with East Midlands Trains Class 156 that is numbered 156404 still in debranded Central Trains livery crawling its away out from Platform 3 bound for Nottingham because of the 10mph speed limit on that particular line. Then a National Express East Coast (NXEC) Class 43 HST 125 thunders through Platform 2 at a 100mph or so with a MTU powered car on the front of the train and a Paxman Valenta power car on the rear fo the train giving off that famous 125 thrash! Next up we have a Hull Trains Class 222 "Pioneer" pulling in to Platform 1 bound for London Kings Cross where it will terminate and then will return to Hull later on, then a freshly repainted East Midlands Trains liveried Class 156414 departs Platform 4 for Skegness. Next up a Class 180 numbered 180111 pulls into Platform 1 and pauses shortly while crew training in taking place then heads off for London Kings Cross. Then a Grand Central service which consists of a Top & Tailed Class 67 and MkII carriage set flies through Platform 2 at speed hence the warning announcement to keep back from the edge behind the yellow line which is the "safe" distance from the speeding trains that pass through the station at high speeds. Next up an NXEC HST also heads in the same direction going North where both power cars are MTU powered (which was recently fitted to both units at the time this video was filmed). A National Express East Class 91 with a 225 rake bound for Leeds pulls into Platform 2 which is in the "Hybrid" GNER livery. Next up a Class 66 in EWS livery (normally this is a Class 60 hauled duty) pulls into the freight reversing loop adjacent to Platform 4. I was a bit gutted because I originally came to film a Class 60 rather than a sodding shed! Then a Class 222 in Hull Trains livery heads North from Platform 2 for Hull which the next stop would be Doncaster. A southbound NXEC 225 pulls into Platform 1 with a service for London Kings Cross via Peterborough and Stevenage which concludes Part 1 of this video.

  • Cool video-

Why is the buffet car of the 225 at 09:51 making a weird noise?

  • I think its the air suspension due to the load change by passengers boarding and alighting the train.

  • yeah, cool vid

  • Thanks
