next to a porta-potty?
Thatl scare the crap out of ya

@IlDucaDiTaranto Ah, even better! Not a fuze to deal with and the complication and failure chance that comes with it, I'm going to assume that the tracer simply burns down to the explosive charge and boom, it stops existing?
And yeah, I'm all for Phalanx and C-RAM.

@SayokoHatsuya Sorry, I must have clicked the wrong comment to reply to. I just couldn't help saying something. I find that everyone is grossly misinformed about the LPXWS and its role with the systems that support its function. My bad...and about the fuze thing...there is no fuse, just a terminal amount of explosive charges designed to deflect the incoming munition from its aimed course or just fizz out and explode on its own.

@IlDucaDiTaranto ... Didn't I say that?
I was responding to the claim that the rounds from this gun would hit civilians, to which I responded it was unlikely, to which they responded it might be possible that the SD fuze could fail and to which I responded along the lines of "sure why not but kind of unlikely". Not that I remember.
You're responding to the right person, right?

@SayokoHatsuya I've been a systems operator on a cram rotation before. I am not convinced that you know what you are talking about. The rounds do self destruct. There has yet to be a reported accident or wrongful civilian death or injury. I have the contact information to the people who have designed the system. I'm sure they can explain it better.

6 people are terrorists

@SayokoHatsuya I'm Ex Royal Navy & loaded / maintained Phalanx on Her Majesties Ship Newcastle, one of our type 42 air defence destroyers.
I was mainly a gunner in frigates, working on Goalkeeper, which is so much fun it has to be bad for you.
( Be proud of your navy, it is a damn fine one & the best in the world. We still have the best sailors, though! )
maybe calling you a cunt was a bit harsh earlier, so apologies for that too.
-
@SayokoHatsuya Yeah, but the self destruct range is 2,500m.
My gambling side says that somebody or something can easily get in the way out to that distance & even on an upward trajectory the ordnance could fail ( happens a lot ) & simply not self destruct but still have enough power to do considerable damage.
The point is, that given the nature of the threat it is a massive disproportionate countermeasure. Also, call me boat boy to my face you gobby little cyber warrior cunt!
Who knew all this time R2D2 had this under his kilt?
Funny that it's right next to the porta-potty!
