Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan discusses how his disillusionment towards the Iraq war affected his relationship with President George W. Bush.

-----

Formerly a member of Bush's select, loyal inner circle, McClellan will speak with rare candor about his experiences as press secretary during the first three years of the Iraq War, one of the most challenging and contentious periods of recent U.S. history, as well as where he thinks the president and his top aides veered off course, and the lessons the American people need to learn as they choose a new leader - The Commonwealth Club of California

Scott McClellan is a former White House Press Secretary (2003-2006) for President George W. Bush. He replaced Ari Fleischer as press secretary in July 2003 and served until replaced by Tony Snow on April 26, 2006.

As Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary, Scott McClellan served as the primary spokesperson for the President and delivered the daily White House briefing. Prior to joining the White House staff, he served as the traveling press secretary for the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign.

Mr. McClellan began working as a gubernatorial spokesman for then-Governor Bush in early 1999. Previously, he served as chief of staff to a Texas state senator, worked on grassroots issue outreach in Texas, and managed three successful campaigns for statewide office.

Mr. McClellan is a native of Austin, Texas. He received his bachelor's degree in government from the University of Texas.

  • McFelon was a typical sycophant. Lick bum and make dollars (worth less today BTW) and then go and be the bold person breaking with the nuts once the jury is out. He is pathetic actually.

  • He knew what was going on..but of course at the time if he spoke out on his own moral principals he probably would have gotten fired.

  • 911=INSIDE JOB!

  • I wonder what he would say about Iran....is that a "Necessary" war...??? Perhaps if you are Israel but Iran has never threatened the US.....

  • "When you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reconsider." ~Mark Twain

  • Exactly the same as Kucinich has rightly leveled against Bush and Cheney: lying to enter this country into an illegal war. F*** him and his pie-eyed, mealy mouthed, muddy-the-water "I was misled" line of B***S***. He knew good and god damned well what was going on.

  • McClellan is still a bit of a chump.

  • It does make you wonder...Are the powers that be using the momentum of anti-Bush sentiment to carry their agenda?

  • blah blah blah.... this guy is full of it, and should be prosecuted.
