@squabs217 Yeah I just heard Jason Aldean for the first time - What is that? The vocals are laced with the electric tones. There must be 10 layers of sounds without the vocals all going on at the same time - filter out the vocals and electric guitar and see what I mean. Different yes but Merle and friends from the 60's and 70's were better. David Allan Coe is much better than Chesney IMO.

@squabs217.. been a lifelong dream to go play and sing in Nashville Tennessee. I finally went this past september 2011. cant tell you how many folks commented, even two different record guys. I told them both the same thing when they wanted to hear something newer. I came here to fulfill a dream and have a ball. got bugged all week. I get "you sound like Merle" or "you sound like Waylon" or "Hank jr." I wish lol Nashville was fun but what a disappointment too. very little country down there...

Was supposed to go see Merle this past Tuesday (January 17, 2012) but he canceled minutes before he was supposed to go on. Now he's in a hospital down in Macon, GA with pneumonia.
