CTY - Center for Talented Youth - is, pretty much, a summer camp for nerds. It tends to have a lot of quirky traditions, like considering some songs important and playing them a lot at dances. Nightswimming is one of these songs, at least at the Lancaster site.

This is such an incredibly sad song. Basically I see it as being about nostalgia and never being able to go back to your youth, and how people just change when they get older. Glad I'm still 17! The imagery is gorgeous, especially the 'every streetlight...'...
