crew that will launch aboard space shuttle Discovery on its STS-119 mission participated in a crew equipment interface test, Nov. 21 through Nov. 22 at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla. During the test, the crew inspected mission hardware and flight equipment that will be used in orbit. Discovery will carry the S6 truss segment with the final set of solar wings to complete the 361-foot-long backbone of the International Space Station.
STS-119 Discovery (Fev 2009)crew members are Commander Lee Archambault (ARSH-um-boe), Pilot Tony Antonelli (an-tuh-NEL-lee), and Mission Specialists Joe Acaba (ah-kah-BAH), Steve Swanson, Ricky Arnold, John Phillips, and Koichi Wakata (wa-KAH-tah) of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency who will become a part of the space station's Expedition 18 crew replacing Sandy Magnus, who will return to Earth aboard Discovery.
