  • In relation to the life, thought and realization of Tolstoy, you spend to much time on the inefficacy of rational means and of the circumstances of the epoch either to confirm the progress of mankind either the ascertain the meaning of life...

And then just some seconds to say that he was entering into the irrational, corrected by you as transrational, but then lessened by you as just faith...

For Tolstoy, that higher or deeper level and meaning, was a experience, revelation, a livingness...

  • @musicalhellraiser You should study deeply who Jesus is, He did not claim to be just a prophet but much more than that. Go to the Original Text and look at the words that are used, study the Sanctuary in the Old Testament and see how it explains who Jesus is. The Bible is the only one that offers a solution to the problem of sin and that is Jesus Christ death on the cross and His Ressurection.

  • @HUMAN15TSunite Life is Life, Death is Death the two are mutually exclusive. The dead are dead and will remain dead until they are given Life by the one that Gave them life. In what sense can you say that Christianity is the true nihilist? We are the ones that say Life HAS a meaning and that is Jesus Christ. Without God then nothing has a meaning and life and all you have done is taken away. Life in Christ is to Live Life to the Fullest. :)

  • @Petey123123 The Christian have no fear. A life without fear is beautiful because we can depend completely on Christ who made us. In addition sin have no dominion over us so our mind is free to pursue the real meaning that of relationship with God and with our fellow man. In Truth Christ shatter all the chains that held us back from reaching the highest potential known to mankind.

  • What is the meaning of life? Having children, working hard, having a house, a wife, a dog? Everything is meaningless without God, without a reason to live beyond this world. This life is a school, only a school for the coming life. A school that only those who learn to love will be approved.

  • you make some very good points in this one. What is the point of just waiting around for heaven and you don't know if its real or not. You just waist your life on earth and this is the only life we know is real. Christianty was made to keep people in dog chains if you ask me

  • Life is everything. What's this guy's point? Life is Death. At the same time there is not death, for all matter remains; it's just us, in the form of "the other," and our ability to perceive life that dies.

So what's the problem? Once one dies, life will have meant nothing. So live your life to the fullest. Leave nothing undone. Put no faith in the "promised lands" and the "heavens", because then you have given up on this world, this humanity, this endeavor. Christianity is the true nihilism.

  • i agree, except about jesus being our savior, i agree he was a prophet and i follow him. But i also follow all the other prophets as well. i dont belong to any church but i follow all the religions. i believe when jesus said that he is the way, i think he meant his lifestyle and his teachings. live by the sermon on the mount. there are things that are a little out dated but the main point is love, peace, fairness, kindness, hate the sin not the sinner etc. etc.

  • Spirituality and philosophy are inseparable. The whole Bible is a philosophical text about the metaphysics of the world; God is our creator not chance; Jesus is our only saviour not ourselves; the ethics and morals of our lives should be ruled by God's commandments and precepts as set out in His Word. Take the philosophy our of our religion you take out the heart of our faith.

  • tolstoy is a great writer and nobody has him beat. hE TALKS ABOUT death, life and the meaning of life. read the death of ivan illych

great novel about a man coming to terms with the fact that he is dying and talks about things that many people would rather not talk about. The russians write deep. when they write they fucking write.
