This was the only time catching WCRV in Philadelphia. This was at 6:00 a.m. They had been on the air an hour early due to a snowstorm December 14, 1981. Years later I found the station abandoned and WSRR "Star Station" papers strewn about inside. The studio was very moldy. Years later only the tower stood in a clearing. That is gone now, too. I would stop by and see it on my way to Hot Dog Johnny's in Buttzville.
What a time warp to hear my old station, long since dark-- and hear my own 17 year old voice doing the campy announcement. I used to love those snow days. In the era before the internet and cellphones, we were it. All ears were listening. Those days, like WCRV, are gone.
