HER MAJESTY is a song written by Paul McCARTNEY (although credited to Lennon-McCartney)
The song was recorded on 2nd July 1969 (Paul McCartney playing acoustic guitar whilst singing at the same time. George MARTIN produced the recording).
The song was released on 26 September 1969 appearing on the ABBEY ROAD album, however the song was not included on the album cover information and became an early example of a hidden track on a rock album.
HER MAJESTY just suddenly arises after the assumed last track (THE END), making HER MAJESTY the real album closer.
HER MAJESTY was originally going to be fitted into the medley on side B of ABBEY ROAD, and it would have sat between MEAN MISTER MUSTARD and POLYTHENE PAM, but Paul changed his mind about that.
HER MAJESTY is one of three Beatles catalogue songs that reference the QUEEN. (PENNY LANE and MEAN MISTER MUSTARD are the other two).
In 2000, a group called CHUMBAWAMBA recorded a daring cover of HER MAJESTY adding all-new verses and choruses.
This performance of PAV playing HER MAJESTY was taped on 25th November 2011, in Sydney.
A film by PK.
