Title more or less says it all.

This film was shot at Roth Händle studios in Stockholm, Sweden. The studio is owned and run by swedish musician and producer Mattias Olsson. The studio houses a remarkable collection of odd instruments, both new and old. For booking and more info on the studio please visit www.roth-händle.nu

  • sir, you are a true visionary. i'm getting into home recording/production myself after seeing so many other people do it so badly. i don't make the same kind of stuff you do but i find your clips inspirational, encouraging me to not dismiss odd sounds or weird ideas simply because they seem trivial or useless. ive had some revelations simply by asking myself... "what would RothHandle do...?"

  • Thank you so much for your kind comment...it means a lot to me. I came originally from working as a musician in big studios where I got the feeling that sounds and production were very delicate fragile objects...so when I started recording I felt an urge to do everything wrong and work myself slowly towards right...I am definitely not there yet but I am having a lot of fun on the way...thank you !

  • you are welcome. most of what i do is using plugins and stuff, but i do try to make interesting soundscapes using guitars and such with some pedals i have built over the years...there is something to be said for finding sounds by using actual gear in ways it was not intended to be used.

  • I think it was Brian Eno that said in an interview once that in retrospect the only thing that is interesting with a piece of of equipment is it limitations...Distortion in a guitar amp etc...

I think a big eye opener for me was the Pod...everyone loved it but people generally used the same settings...the "sweet spot" if you will....

A lot of the equipment I use has a mind of its own...sometimes its flirty...other times it gives you a blank stare and walks out.

  • What a lucky dude.

  • Well...thank you...!

  • i always love the the weird and beautiful stuff you come up with

  • I think they have started to make replicas of some of their equipment...sounds interesting...

  • no not really at all. they were more or less the "first" industrial band.. though that is their most popular song
