Bart Contant's brand new single: 'Gravity'
From the debut album 'Tell Yourself Whatever You Have To' released the 13th of January.
Rutger Hoedemaekers, the man behind Bart Constant, spent years tinkering with something that became more than just a record.
Bart Constant plays with perfectionism; he disects his music like a frog in biology class, only to put the notes back in place so that a form of life comes to be that's not exactly what it was. Melody becomes rhythm, or the other way around. It starts with the songs and is then carried forward to the visual aspects.
Last May saw the release of the video for the song "Do Better", a seven-minute short that recently won Best Music Video at the Dutch Film Festival. For the record's packaging a special neon sculpture of the typography was created and then hung in a secluded forest for a day, running on a generator, and photographed with beautiful, melancholic results. Image and sound not only seem to be made for each other, but actually are.
this song helps me, again and again, until i get it right!
