Sega Dreamcast - 9 - 9 - 99 - The Sony Spy - It's Thinking

I can't think of a gaming commercial that comes anywhere close to suspenseful as this! The Sega Dreamcast brought joy to many hardcore gamers after its launch.
Too bad the Sega Dreamcast's life was cut short due to Sega's previous mediocre sales and Sony's Playstation 2. Regardless, Sega has a special place in my heart as i've owned all of their consoles right next to the Nintendo and Turbografx / PC Engine consoles. Yu Suzuki was truly the "Miyamoto" of Sega. Who could not resist a Sega arcade game made by Mr. Suzuki? Then later the Suzuki game would be ported to the Dreamcast. It was heaven !

If this was used in the North American Dreamcast's launch, why are they Asian then?

Just because something is advertised in North America doesn't mean it

has to be ethnic specific. If you paid any attention to the commercial; it felt like

a tactical espionage video game set in a Neo-Tokyo world. Simply put, Sega

was trying to be edgy and I think they did an excellent job.

If you look at the thief's arm you can see the Square, Cirlcle, X, and Triangle from the Playstation controller

You're absolutely right. The thief represents Sony's tacticle espionage gone wrong. The Dreamcast controls everything systematically throwing obsticles in her way by messing with the radar signal, lures her to a motorcycle and the traffic light. She ends up on the hood of the cop car. Sonic says "WE GOT HER !" Such an awesome commercial :)

I actually did all the visual effects for the commercial. It aired on the MTV Video Awards that night. It was done at Sight Effects in Venice, Ca.
