I spent three days in Helensburgh in November 1980. It was my first visit to Europe. I spent a lot of time at the Imperial sampling English beer and Scottish cuisine. I had my first taste of haggis. Didin't care for it. But I liked Helensburgh a lot.
The height of the summer holidays and less than 30 people seen, scruffy empty and closed shops, poor attempts at beautification, with nothing to see or do.
Just goes to show what an end-of-the-line ghost town it has become.
On a trip home years ago, I took my three daughters on a coach tour to Loch Lomond and we ended up at Helensburgh for a bite to eat. That was the first time my girls encountered deep fried pizza!
You're right about your choice of music. It's perfect.
