regina spektor - Left Hand Song {A Lesson in How Fleeting Preseveration Is} (Live)

Lyrics:

Too much time spent trying to crawl into a hole
Trying to crawl out of that hole

I followed a path of a piece of a bread, traveling
From one little sparrow's beak
To another little sparrow's beak

He picked it up, threw it and then dropped it, then
This other one picked it up and threw it and again
Then they broke it into pieces
Ate it up and forgot that it ever existed

They were still hungry, I bet
They were still hungry at the end

I was inside my office at the time
And I got real scared
Thought I saw two snakes slithering
Then I remembered:
Snakes don't live in carpeted areas

Too much time spent
And I'm spent

There is an old meatball wrapped inside of tinfoil
Lying on the bottom shelf of our fridge
A lesson in how fleeting preservation is...

  • I used to listen to this song all of the time, but I completely forgot about it...It's great though because I've basically discovered an amazingly beautiful song twice!

  • I've fallen off my bike while listening to this on two separate occasions WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?!?!?

  • This song is so hard to play on the piano! My left hand cramps like a pregnant woman in the morning :(

  • BEST SONG EVER:):):)

  • this song goes exactly with a book called The Devils Arithmetic! oh my god. everyone should read it. like now. i love regina. btw its about the holocaust.

  • is she left handed?

  • @MusicontheBrain247 I have the feeling that Regina could sing the telephone directory and it would still soung good.

  • @chocolateDusst : As lilismymutt has mentioned you've got respektonline which is probably the best source for demos, unreleased etc. Sometimes you get kucky on soulseek where I've found some stuff. I think spektography seems to have a lot of live Regina, so just convert to mp3 and you're away with the fairies :)

  • @zonalGman92 It's almost saying too how wasteful us humans are...here these sparrows are fighting over a piece of bread and a person has left food to rot at the bottom of a fridge... I have different arguments on this song every time I listen to it lol... she is amazing!
