What happened to Taylor Hicks? He had so many votes so why didn't those very same votes go out and buy his record?

@theann111 I feel sad for those who loved him on AI who did not continue to follow him, because it has been a blast! To be able to go to concerts where he is so real, have been some of the happiest moments of my life. Thanks, Taylor for the past five years of SMILES, having a great band with you, and being so kind to fans...........and having such great fans!

He isn't singing this song though. Why post that comment here?

@theann111 He may not be as highly visible as Carrie Underwood or Daughtry, but he's definitely built a successful career in music. He toured for 18 months in Broadway's "Grease", has released a few albums, and tours with his band, as well. He will be at the Telluride(Colorado) Jazz Festival in August, 2011. He's not a "pop" star(more to his credit) but has quite a jazz and soul following; his certainly not a failure!!!

I wish he would have made it in them music business. He was so awesome. I was so happy when he won. He has a style that nobody in american idol history has had. You almost forget that he is only in his 20's here. He just seems so much older, he has such a cool style

Taylor Hicks brings it home...gives me goosebumps...this guy is full of soul.
I love Taylor's version here. It is soulful and heartfelt, is much different from Elvis's and it should be. Not really fair to compare anyone to Elvis. When everyone else did a karaoke version of Elvis that night, Taylor put his own personal spin on it, and Tommy Mottola and the judges agreed. Taylor Hicks is unique and a born entertainer. I think Elvis would have loved him.

NO ONE is like Elvis-but Taylor is probably as close as the world will get-because I've been an Elvis fan since high school-and when I saw this performance on Elvis night I became a member of the Soul Patrol. Anybody who can "do an Elvis song and do it right" deserves a listen in my book!
