I feel that allot of Not so stable people use the HS thing to lead allot of other people down paths they should not go..
With thousands of Churches in the world you can not tell me they all have the same HS.
If it is not unifying I do not feel it is of God.

part 2,

"If we don't know Him in person"

Protestant Charismatics tend to focus so much on a "realtionship" with the HS, which you do not find in scripture or history. It diminishes the focus on Christ. e.g., Benny Hinn.

The Holy Spirt is the giver of life (spiritually), and with out Him, we are dead spiritually, However, you claim the Spirit never lies to you.

What about the other denominations and groups who have different interpretations? If its the same Spirit, why the confusion?

"What about the other denominations and groups who have different interpretations? If its the same Spirit, why the confusion? ""

I have asked this question over and over again. Is the Holy Spirit the author of confusion?
He answers with "just trust Jesus"
But fails to realise that all these denominations "just trust Jesus" also

And since they are in complete disagreement with one another, "just trusting in Jesus" is actually "just trusting my own interpretation"

TMG,

OK, it was you who asked that, sorry.

I agree 100%.

"He answers with "just trust Jesus"
But fails to realise that all these denominations "just trust Jesus" also"

This fact drove me insane. How can all be correct when there is not any unity.

I will tell, you it is very hard to get through to an individual like this. If they believe the Holy Spirit told them...well...

@bear

I think it was St John Vianney who went to people who were claiming to be recieving msg's from the HS or apperitions etc.
He would ask them a simple question
"Is it the HS speaking to you?"

If the person said yes, he turned around & walked away. His reason? All those that have been genuine dont know who it is?

They claimed a voice spoke to them claiming to be the HS but the person never claimed it was. They always said that they didn't really know
Also, the Church discerns

"Protestant Charismatics tend to focus so much on a "realtionship" with the HS"

I'm reminded of an article in which this is described as 'the heresy of individualism'.

"It is time to reject the heresy of individualism. Being "in Christ" is to belong to the Body of Christ, a community comprised of many members"

We are to exist in community...This idea of 'individualism' seems to be an outcome of an American experience not a spiritual one.

mapallo:

Absoloutely! Christ Himself saw Himself as part of a community, both under authority and having responsibility over others.

It is good and right to have a "relationship" with Christ, but it is a heresy if it overshadows and/or eliminates the relationship you are called to have with others.

Why is it so hard for people to understand balance?

"Spiritual acrobatics is what you posses. "

A very apt phrase :)

Mapollo,

It is the best phrase to describe what takes place. The focus on "experience" is actually dangerous in my opinion.

"The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said..." is a common statement.

I believe it was you who mentioned confusion. That is so accurate, and it was one of the many proverbial bricks in the wall which led me back to the Church.
