Hello & welcome to my 5th Bluescartoon,
BLUES LEGEND BOBBY (born 1937) is still active and smoking. Many influential rock musicians like JOHN LENNON, ROBERT PLANT or CARLOS SANTANA said they were influenced by BOBBY PARKER.
I called the video a little provocantly WHO IS BOBBY PARKER because he is not that well-known to a bigger audience like comparable blues legends like BUDDY GUY, GUITAR WATSON, ALBERT COLLINS or even JOHNNY COPELAND. That is a strange fact because he is far away from being a very good but obscure blues musican like BEE HOUSTON or WHISPERING SMITH for instance.
This BLUES CARTOON is different to volumes 1-4 which featured 1-minute-tributes to blues legends like JIMMY REED, SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON, JOHN LEE HOOKER or BO DIDDLEY, marracas-player JEROME GREEN and BILLY BOY ARNOLD:
1.This time the clip is about 4 minutes long and features the original music of BOBBY PARKER from 1968 & 1958 plus a little biography about his archievment as a musician.
2.It features also Bobby Parker's offical homepage-adress and the name of his youtube-account BOBBYPARKERBLUES. Yes, he is alive & well and you can contact him!!!

I hope you'll have some fun listeneing to the music (HARD BUT FAIR from 1968 & ONCE UPON THE TIME LONG AGO LAST NIGHT from 1958) of that clip & maybe you take the opportunity to read the little bio as well. BTW you'll find more bio details on BOBBY PARKER's YT-channel-description.
Thank you & bye
Framat

  • wow! i've been into rock and blues for many years and i never heard of bobby parker. tho of course i've known some great musicians myself who will never be famous.

  • @bigkittysmile

But he is really something special - plus you can contact him here on youtube when you leave a message on his channel site.

  • don't like the featured song, but this guy sounds real interesting, talent to burn no doubt, thank you for the info, gonna listen to some more of his stuff now

  • @KellyTmusically

Actually 2 songs are featured: The 1st one is recorded with british musicians - the 2nd one is recorded 10 years earlier with Paul Williams who recorded THE HUCKLEBACK. If you are more 50's orientated you proably prefer the later song :-)

  • Thank you for sharing this unknown great! What's up with the USA and their lack of recognition for superstar blues talent? Great informative video. I want to see your others. Do you have one on JGW?

  • @ultravioleta3

I think there were too many potential blues superstars out there in the USA even from the 20's up to the 60's so if some of them weren't at the right place in the right time almost nobody took notice of them.Did you ever listen to the music of BEE HOUSTON?He was very good but is until today almost completely overlooked (unfortunately he died in the early 90's).

I did some 1-minute-cartoon tributes (but only with me playing all intruments& making up the songs):HOOKER, BO D. etc.
