Origummi ferris ball spinning
This is created by folding gum wrappers together into a ferris ball (I tried to make a wheel, but it was better to make it fat).
I added some extra aluminum foil to the wrappers to make them stronger. I also add some beads to the cross-bars and the axles to help with spacing and to relieve friction.
There are over 10 packs worth of gum wrappers in this piece.
The basic design of the ball is an exploded cube and the supports for the axles are also the same with shorter "explosion" connectors.
I tried to make the wheel skinnier but the wheel just kept getting out of shape and required more and more wrappers to try to reinforce the weak spots. I would have liked to make both supports out of blue, but ran out of that color.
My eventual goal is to use a windmill to power this and other amusement pieces.
I'm running low on wrappers so it may be quite a while if I ever reach that goal.
