Razor clam digging in Gearhart, Oregon, June 24, 2009. Tom and I arrived at the beach at 500AM and had our limit by 720. We then built a big fire and roasted hotdogs. We were back in Portland by 1230. What a fun day.

Great times diggin eh. I upgraded to a steel tube recently, so much easier going down. Limits of 20 minutes both days I was down there.
Burning driftwood is not illegal, and the sign at that beach entrance says you can. Read it this morning myself, aswell as the fort stevens entrance. Sate police all over the beach this morning, plenty of fires burning driftwood. Now having a fire by the driftwood piles is illegal.

@gsaum huh. i have done it a million times and never had anyone say anything. what beach are you talking about maybe its not a statewide law but per county or area. i burn driftwood every time i am at pacific city beach

@lucasmorter It absolutely is. You need to read the signs as you drive onto the beach more closely. :) Thanks for the tip on the clam gun!

Here's another tip...it's illegal to burn driftwood. By the way, what did you use to dig up the clams? Is that a special gadget you made? I'd like to try digging for clams sometime!
