In order to help remember all nine of the national standards of music education, I wrote this song and made this movie. I hope music educators around the world can benefit from my work. Enjoy!
Short of not having instruments, every music teacher can do all of these (technically, you can make some of your own instruments). I strive to teach all of this and more, extending into other subjects. The only way I want to impress my parents is by holding one of my class sessions for them on stage (not prepped, but just the next lesson). Parents see the kids having fun analyzing, scribing, and creating music... Kodaly training has been a major key for me.
Most schools won't allow you to teach all nine of these standards because they will not give you the materials necessary (like instruments or music labs for hands on learning). I've tried to implement the best musical experiences, and I have to say, Youtube has helped today's kids get the connection between the material presented in a lesson plan and makes it come to life. Thank you Youtube for making my lesson planning more fun and exciting for my students!
Love this by the way. My entire Methods class learned it last semester for our test. Anytime I need to use the standards in my lesson plans and teaching I sing this song. It is super catchy! Thanks!
Unfortunately music education is in trouble because music educators do not instill any respect or appreciation for music in their students. Most music educators are only concerned with using their students for things like impressing parents, impressing their peers, winning competitions, and getting high scores and ratings at music festivals. Music educators are killing music education with their selfishness. Look up Music Education Extinction on youtube.
very helpful thanks.

This was so helpful for my Intro. to Music Education class. I had to memorize these for my final and this song was the biggest help.

The song is beautiful, the standards all important, but majority of kids learn nothing and musicalli illiterate.
