The QuikGrout is added. Grout is used instead of concrete, because grout is a better medium to transfer and absorb heat from the geothermal tubing. Go to http://www.lovesgeothermal.com to read my diary of the whole Geothermal installation process - start to finish.

  • @srumrol Grout is absolutely necessary! It seals the borehole from contaminates and keeps them from penetrating the aquifer...that is if the hole is grouted correctly from bottom-up.

  • Grout is not necessary, the only reason it is used is to protect the cable. Grout doesn't have a better heat transfer rating than earth soil so I wouldn't grout it if I didn't need to.

  • not sure where you guys are from. in the northeast we use geo pro select and sand with ratings of .88 to 1.2 depending on job specs. and we grout the entire well.

  • I use ez-seal. Do you guys have to grout bottom to top or do you fill part way with stone and grout the rest? Did you use any ez mudd or is it a ready to mix like ez seal?

  • Never mind. I spoke too soon about the grouting. Here it is.
