A small biographical film based on the sitar maestro Ustad Abdul Halim jaffer Khan. He lives in Bandra and is eighty years old. Together with the other two giants of sitar -Pandit Ravishankar and Ustad Vilayat Khan, he blazed the Indian Classical instrumental music circuit for over four decades.

  • 06:26 – ”The man who hath no music in himself,

Nor is not moved by concord of sweet sounds

is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils.

The motions of his spirit are dull as night

And his affections dark as Erebus.

Let no such man be trusted!”

  • SUCH A SWEET MAN...

  • Excellent but maybe a bit less rocking about movement with the camera. It makes you feel as if you're on a ship in bad weather.

Sorry I've not checked the site for long and hence didn't know about more comments on the film. Thanks for watching and glad u enjoyed it. Good to hear u also play sitar. Are u from Bombay, btw?

  • I agree with everyone- This is a JOY beyond description- and, yes, I also play Sitar- have been listening to the Master for about ten years.... this is a precious film of our Idol... don't know how you did it so well- music plus seeing him in "real Life"- It's the living end! Nearly passed out when I heard Bismillah Khan- I also play Shehnai... or, maybe was Ahmed Ali Khan? Bless you for posting this pure Nectar.....Namaste

  • Fantastic movie. really enjoyed this. Thanks for posting

  • Thanks for the comments. Coming from a musician, what more can one ask? I think the film has served its intended purpose - highlighting a wonderful man and a great musician. Happy to note that you are an accomplished musician too. Pls write more abt yourself. Rais khan's name has triggered a new subject...

  • Oh yes, I'm definitely grateful for your "non-filmi" film. It's really beautiful and brings the wonderful wisdom and personality of Khansaheb across to us. Congratulations on a great film. I'm a guitarist (played with the great Joe Zawinul for 11 years),and I'm also a sitarist in the line of Ustad Rais Khansaheb, which isn't related to Vilayat. Khan as people think ,but a different line from the same Indore beenkar baj of Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan. I try to tell everyone about Ud.JafferKhan.

  • so far you are only the third person to have analysed the film so correctly - after a friend of mine and my teacher. i admire your highly 'tuned guesswork' for that. There were reasons why this film happened the way it did. But I realised later tht it's not like a filmi film. Only the music minded would luv it. And many have. I am grateful and proud at the same time. Would like to know wht you do btw. :)
