University of Houston graduate student Christiana Chang is using carbon nanofiber paper as a conductor for a concrete system that can create enough heat to melt ice in a lab. Studying in the UH Cullen College of Engineering, Chang's thesis- and breakthrough test results- are paving the way for future testing of the self-heating concrete in a joint proposal with the University of Alaska Anchorage. www.uh.edu
