@eszettfromhell It was the comics this was based on that became the cultural icon. I believe this was made to bank off said comics' popularity at the time.

@MultiSkibunny He's suppose to sound stupid! That's the nature of the character. The late Howard Morris(1920-2005), who was part of Sid Caesar's troupe of actor on Your Show Of Shows in the '50s, and was Ernest T. on The Andy Griffith Show(1960-68), was the voice of both Moose and Jughead. :)
