1st: that is a HUGE gourd to be made into a gourd banjo. Very cool.
2nd: American Appalachian hillbilly music being played by a Japanese dude is an AWESOME example of multiculturalism at its finest. I'm from Michigan, USA but I'm learning Arabic drum rhythms. Same principle at heart. We can all learn and prosper from each other's art. Fuck governments and religions. This is where TRUE peace among nations is born.

This is actually a very fine version an old mountain tune based on a recording of Fred Cockerham, a fantastic North Carolinian banjo player/fiddler born just after the turn of the century. This is about as Appalachian as you can get, and this gentleman seems to know *exactly* how its done.
